Sepha will showcase its latest PakScan model for non-destructive testing of flexible and semi-rigid packaging at PACK EXPO International 2026. The system will be demonstrated live at McCormick Place, Chicago, from 18–21 October at Booth W-24060.
The latest PakScan expands Sepha’s non-destructive testing capabilities, giving pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturers greater flexibility to test different packaging formats and sizes using one machine.
Configurable testing for different pack formats
At the heart of the redesigned PakScan is a configurable test area that can be set up for 1, 2, 3 or 6-pack testing. Individual load cells can be activated or deactivated as required, allowing the test layout to be adapted around the packaging rather than restricting manufacturers to a fixed configuration. Each active position delivers its own objective pass/fail result.
The system also offers deeper vacuum capability for low-headspace packs, extending the range of applications that can be tested. Combined with a smaller overall footprint, this makes the PakScan easier to accommodate in laboratory, production and quality control environments.
Force Decay for flexible packaging
Using deterministic Force Decay technology, the PakScan detects pinholes, weak seals, channel leaks and gross defects in sealed, non-porous flexible and semi-rigid packaging. It delivers objective, repeatable and operator-independent results without destroying packs that pass. Suitable formats include pouches, sachets, stick packs, pillow packs, doy packs, laminate pouches, transdermal patch packs, and semi-rigid trays or cups with non-porous lidding.
Multiple PakScan systems can also be connected to a shared database, allowing manufacturers to run the same validated test method across more than one machine and maintain consistent testing in higher-throughput environments.
