National Vaccine Program Office, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, and Disney Institute to Give Keynotes at Annual Global ISPE Event

Gellin, MD, MPH, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health and Director of the National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO), Matthew R. Stober, Chemical Engineer and Global Head, Technical Operations for Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, and the Disney Institute to give keynote presentations at the ISPE 2010 Annual Meeting being held 7-10 November at the Swan and Dolphin Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA.

Information About the Speakers

Dr. Bruce Gellin, MD, MPH is Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health and Director of the National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO), and is one of the United States' top experts on vaccines and infectious diseases. NVPO was created by the US Congress to provide leadership and coordination among Federal agencies and other immunization stakeholders, including states and municipalities, health care providers, and private-sector entities such as vaccine manufacturers.

Matthew R. Stober is a Chemical Engineer and currently Global Head, Technical Operations for Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. Previously, he was Vice President, Biopharmaceutical Operations for GlaxoSmithKline responsible for the management of commercial manufacturing sites in the US and UK as well as the development and implementation of global biopharmaceutical manufacturing strategy. Prior to that, he worked for both Merck and Pfizer.

Education sessions at the 2010 ISPE Annual Meeting will follow 11 tracks of interest: Facilities and Equipment, Outsourcing, Retooling for Operational Excellence, Successful Delivery, Regulatory, Young Professionals, Information Systems, Sustainability, Project Management, Investigational Products, and the brand-new Hot Topics track. With Hot Topics, ISPE incorporates late-breaking content to the Annual Meeting education sessions using last-minute topic submissions from Members collected throughout the summer. Hot Topics ensures that Members have the opportunity to learn about current industry topics as part of the ISPE Annual Meeting agenda. Networking activities, exhibits, and special events will also allow for one-on-one time with colleagues for further knowledge and best practice sharing.

Announcement of the 2010 Overall Facility of the Year Awards Winner. The overall 2010 Facility of the Year Awards winner will be announced during the Keynote Address. The overall winner was chosen by an independent judging panel of experts with global expertise in all facets of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and will be announced for the first time from among 6 Category Winners. The Category winners for 2010 are Biogen Idec - Operational Excellence Winner; Genentech - Project Execution Winner; MannKind Corporation - Equipment Innovation Winner and Process Innovation Winner; Pfizer Biotechnology Ireland - Sustainability Winner, and Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals - Facility Integration Winner.

ISPE Membership Luncheon and Awards Ceremony will be held 9 November, and reveal the winners of the ISPE Member of the Year, Company of the Year, Chapter or Affiliate of the Year, and International Student Poster Competition awards, among many others.

3rd Annual COP Night will be held 8 November. This year, ISPE's 19 Communities of Practice (COPs) will hold a Beach Bash and General Reception, at which COP members will be able to relax and network while participating in an experience customized to their interests.
