A recent UCSD News article discussed the latest smart wearable in the form of a patch. Engineers at UCSD created a flexible skin patch that may not look like much, but could be extremely valuable for people with underlying medical conditions. The patch is a thin sheet of stretchy polymers that forms to the skin. It contains a blood pressure sensor and two chemical sensors. The first sensor measures lactate, caffeine, and alcohol in sweat while the other measures glucose levels in interstitial fluid. It is the first wearable device that can monitor cardiovascular signals and multiple biochemicals simultaneously. A video with more info can be seen here.
