PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, announces the release of two new work products from the OpX Leadership Network. The industry-led work products, Operator Training Standardization (OTS) and Data Management Standardization (DMS), are designed to bridge the gap between experience and execution, accelerate onboarding, strengthen data practices, and elevate performance across the entire packaging and processing ecosystem.
The OTS and DMS work products are a result of community-led discussions, in which industry leaders identify common operational challenges and collaborate on best practices and innovative solutions.
The OTS work product represents the collective experience of the OTS Solutions Group members, a collaboration between OEMs and CPGs, regarding operator training. This work product, designed as an education and discussion tool to optimize the operator training experience, outlines suggestions and recommendations for an alternative modern method to traditional training models by focusing on training capable individuals as highly qualified operators.
Topics covered in the OTS work product include:
- The purpose and scope of standardizing operator training
- Framework for a program to standardize operator training
- Framework for continuous improvement
- Success stories
- A path forward for industry adoption

Topics in the DMS work product include:
- Scope and objectives of data management standardization
- Key data points and guidelines for data collection
- Data sharing and governance
- Recommendation for applying methods
Facilitated by PMMI, the OpX Leadership Network is a dynamic community led by consumer packaged goods (CPG) executives and supported by manufacturing, engineering, and operations professionals committed to advancing operational excellence. Built by the industry, for the industry, OpX is a confidential, executive-level forum where collaboration, innovation, and genuine dialogue drive progress across the CPG landscape.
