A recent Medgadget article discussed the latest product in the fight against the opioid epidemic. The California-based medical device company Masimo just released Bridge, a small device that is attached near the ear and lessens withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, agitation, and sweating. It does this by transmitting neuromodulation to occipital and cranial nerves via electrodes. The device can be positioned by a clinician in just a few minutes and begins reducing symptoms in 15-30 minutes. It can work continuously for several days, allowing time for the opioids to leave the body.
