From mid-September 2010 through early October 2010, Business Solutions magazine conducted a Web-based survey of its VAR subscribers. To ensure statistical accuracy, Business Solutions partnered with Penn State University. VAR subscribers were asked to rate their vendor partners on a scale of 0 (worst) to 5 (best) in seven categories as follows:

Adequate VAR Margins
A total of 11,504 votes were cast with 2,437 participants. All ballots were reviewed to ensure they were submitted by Business Solutions Magazine reseller subscribers and those that could not be verified were eliminated. Scores were calculated by Penn State University and the Business Solutions Magazine editorial staff.
As a result of feedback from subscribers and vendors, Business Solutions Magazine made this year's winners part of a very exclusive group. In past years, the top 15% were selected vs this year's Top 5% only. The best and worst vendors, according to the survey, appear in the January 2011 issue of Business Solutions magazine.
