Shurtape Technologies’ expanded ShurSeal® line offers a quick-change system that combines Shurtape HP Series packaging tape with a new PrimeLoc™ tape applicator that’s engineered to tackle slow tape roll changeovers, particularly in high-throughput operations.
The quick-change sealing system is designed to address the downtime associated with tape roll changeovers. Rather than waste time with difficult thread paths that could take minutes, the user simply removes the empty insert and replaces it with a second pre-threaded insert in as little as 10 seconds. The interchangeable inserts are universal to the top and bottom units, so there’s no need to store extra pieces. And because the threading process is done off line, errors and operator frustration are eliminated.
The quick-change sealing system is designed with ergonomics in mind. According to the vendor, the inserts are up to 60% lighter in weight than traditional tape applicators, making it easier to complete changeovers without excessive straining or heavy lifting. This is especially beneficial for bottom unit changeovers where heavier applicators need to be removed from the machine or in operations where operators must crawl on the floor to change tape rolls.
