Crativ Engineered Packaging and Amcor Rigid Packaging have announced the commercialization of Crativ PCR50TM 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polypropylene material. Manufactured in Canada, Crativ PCR50TM was developed for a patented, child-resistant container line to protect pre-roll, vape, edible, and flower products servicing the hemp, CBD, and cannabis markets. Crativ products are certified to the child-resistant packaging standards for Canada.
The Crativ PCR50TM line enables brands, cultivators, and distribution partners to find the correct configuration to bring their products to market in a more sustainable packaging format while differentiating themselves through fully customizable, brandable cases in standard (black and slate) or custom colors. Crativ PCR50TM products are made from a blend of food contact-compliant recycled and virgin polypropylene.
partnered with Crativ in the development of the 50% PCR material blend, which offers cannabis brands and their consumers a more ecofriendly alternative to traditional plastics, thanks to its utilization of PCR content.
“It was a pleasure for us to support the development of the PCR blend to meet the performance requirements for Crativ’s child-resistant packaging design,” says Greg Rosati, VP of Marketing and Strategy-Specialty Containers, Amcor Rigid Packaging. “This project is in line with Amcor’s pledge that all our packaging be recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2025. Our path to this future is by helping our customers like Crativ solve their packaging challenges today.”
“We are excited to offer a PCR solution that meets current and future requirements for PCR content,” says Bill Ludlow, Founder and CEO, Crativ Packaging. “We had to develop a material blend that maintained the functionality and superior performance of our patented child-resistant design. We’re excited to add Crativ PCR50TM packaging to the high-quality products our customers expect.”
