Medicine-On-Time announced a new Web site that aims to connect consumers taking multiple medications to pharmacists who offer customized prescription packaging.

In addition to free trials and background information, sortmymeds.com gives consumers the ability to find the closest pharmacy offering the Medicine-On-Time system. Nationwide, 250 pharmacies are participating in this consumer launch, with the expectation that additional pharmacies will be added as the program grows in popularity.

Medicine-On-Time is personal prescription packaging designed to organize and simplify how medications are taken. Medications are packaged by pharmacists into personalized pill cups labeled with the day, the date, and the time to take them. On average, consumers pay $24.95/month for the service.

“Our goal is to drive retail customers into local community pharmacists with the expectation of paying for customized prescription packaging,” says Ian Salditch, Medicine-On-Time's CEO. “This Web site helps to create revenue opportunities for pharmacists, while providing a valuable service to consumers.” To date, Medicine-On-Time has been used to fill more 50 million prescriptions.

The Hunt Valley, MD-based company explains that its “mission is to improve patient quality of life by providing a common-sense solution to the problem of medication management; to simplify the administration of pharmaceutical care for caregivers and other healthcare professionals; to reduce the rate of prescription medication misuse (medication non-adherence), which robs patients of their health and our national healthcare system of hundreds of billions of dollars annually.”

More information can be found on the company's Web site and in this Healthcare Packaging article.
