TOSS Machine Components, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of advanced impulse heat sealing controls and components, highlights its water cooling jaw bars as a reliable solution for demanding heat sealing applications. Pre engineered from extruded aluminum, TOSS heat seal jaw bars are designed to provide the precision straightness and uniformity required for making consistent, high quality seals, while also offering the mass and thermal conductivity needed to support effective cooling during the sealing process.
Available in single lengths up to twelve feet and easily connected for longer applications, TOSS custom jaw bars are designed with jaw end blocks that provide convenient mounting, tensioning, and electrical connection for heat seal bands of many lengths, widths, and profiles. TOSS Jaw Bar Assemblies include the basic jaw bar, jaw end blocks, and heat seal band, and are built to meet the key design criteria required for dependable sealing performance.
A cooling passage is included in TOSS heat seal jaw bars as a standard feature. In many applications, the natural heat absorption of the aluminum jaw bar is sufficient, but in high speed impulse sealing operations, additional cooling can help accelerate the cooling cycle, reduce the time required for the seal to set, and support higher production speeds. TOSS also offers configurations equipped for water cooling that incorporate water fittings as part of the assembly design.
Excessive cooling can increase energy demand and may create unwanted moisture condensation if jaw temperatures fall below the dew point, particularly in humid environments. For this reason, temperature controlled water can be a valuable aid when greater productivity justifies the investment and when the sealing characteristics of the material are properly understood.
