R.D. Abbott Co., Inc. (RDAbbott) is announcing that Rick Ziebell, VP of technology and technical fellow, will be an instructor at M.R. Toub Training’s “Silicone Elastomers Technology and Fabrication Course.” This four-day, university-accredited course will provide participants with 3.2 continuing education credits from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The in-person event is scheduled for April 5 to April 8, 2022. The course locations are the Kellogg West Conference Center and Hotel in Pomona, California, and M.R. Mold & Engineering, site of a one-day field trip, in nearby Brea, California.
The Silicone Elastomers Technology and Fabrication Course will emphasize liquid injection molding (LIM) for liquid silicone rubber (LSR), and explore extrusion and calendering for high consistency rubber (HCR). From start to finish, this unique training event will show participants the sequence of designing and fabricating with silicone elastomers.
Areas of instruction include LSR and HCR material selection; design for manufacturing with silicone, tooling and virtual simulation techniques; pump, press, calender, and extruder designs for peak performance; and secondary processes, like post-curing, de-flashing, and overmolding.
This training event is recommended for both entry-level and experienced personnel, from rubber technologists and material engineers; to manufacturing quality, design, and process engineers; and individuals seeking general information about silicone rubber fabrication.
During the one-day field trip to M.R. Mold & Engineering, course participants will experience LSR molding and tool design while learning more about calendering and extrusion with silicone.
