MRIs May Soon Be Available in Ambulances

The technology could be used to determine if patients are having a stroke on their way to the hospital so they can go directly to a specialist.

A recent Live 5 News article noted the successful trial of an MRI scan performed in a moving ambulance. The pilot study was conducted by staff at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and Georgetown County Fire and EMS. The portable MRI was developed by Hyperfine, and tested on a phantom person and a faculty member from MUSC.
