As cold and flu season approaches, we want to make sure medications are stocked up at our local pharmacies. However, a recent GOV.UK article noted the recall of such a medication due to incorrect labelling. An error on the leaflet and cartons stated that children 12 to 15 years can take up to 12 capsules of paracetamol (aka acetaminophen) in a 24-hour period. However, that is the dosage for adults 16 years of age and older.
The correct dosage for 12 to 15 year olds is 8 capsules a day, which isnโt too far off, but the error was enough for a Class 2 recall. The company is currently correcting the labels and the products have been removed from shelves in the meantime.
