If people weren’t already paranoid about the COVID-19 vaccine continuing a microchip, a new development out of Sweden is sure to add to the paranoia. According to a recent INSIDER article, a Swedish start-up has developed an implantable microchip that when scanned displays the owner’s vaccine passport. The company is called Dsruptive Subdermals, and their product is a pre-programmed scannable implant that measures just 2mm x 16mm and rests just beneath the skin.
Hannes Sjoblad, managing director of the firm, took the plunge and received one of the implants. “I have a chip implant in my arm, and I have programmed the chip so that I have my COVID passport on the chip, and the reason is that I always want to have it accessible,” he said. Sjoblad is quick to note that the implants are not tracking devices; they don’t have a battery, and cannot transmit a signal by themselves. They simply sit there passively waiting to be scanned by a smartphone. The implant will cost 100 euros (roughly $112).
