COVID-19 affects people differently. For every story about a healthy 30-something dying, there’s an asymptomatic person in their 80s. A recent Hematology article covered two new studies that suggest susceptibility and severity of COVID-19 infections are linked to blood type. The studies, published in Blood Advances, provide evidence that people with type O blood have a lower risk of infection and likelihood of severe outcomes if they do become ill.
