A recent Medgadget article discussed the newest member of the health-focused smartwatch family. At their virtual “Galaxy Unpacked” event, Samsung unveiled their newest smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch3. It seems clear that the electronics giant is targeting the Apple Watch with new features focused on health management.
The Watch3 contains an accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical sensors that monitor heart rate, track workouts, analyze sleep, and detect falls. It also has an ECG and pulse oximeter that monitors and tracks blood oxygen concentration and maximum oxygen consumption. However, those features will remain dormant until a software update. Perhaps most unique, the watch can perform cuffless blood pressure measurements, pending FDA approval in the US. The Galaxy Watch3 is available now, starting at $399.
