Bormioli Pharma, leading Italian pharma packaging manufacturer in glass and plastic, will be present at CPHI Worldwide in Frankfurt – from 5th to 7th November.
During the fair, the company will showcase prototypes addressing some of the growing needs in the pharma industry, including usability, sustainability, connectivity and traceability.
Pharma packaging manufacturers are called to make a leap towards innovation: several factors are pushing this brand-new scenario, including fast-paced lifestyle, new biotech drugs, personalized medicine as well as a more open approach to product development that is permeating the industry.
Bormioli Pharma answered to these challenges by making of innovation one of its development strategy pillars, by introducing a new agile approach to innovation, and promoting an innovation-oriented corporate culture.
The company has reviewed its existing centralized innovation model towards a more open and collaborative one, to create a porous ecosystem able to generate new value. This will be possible working with internal and external partners, such as start-ups, research centers and universities, but also customers, suppliers and final users.
Several collaborations have been implemented so far with important realities such as BearingPoint – developing dedicated innovation sessions addressed to the company’s employees – and H-FARM, that is partnering with Bormioli Pharma to accelerate the innovation process, starting with the definition of an innovation strategic roadmap and also including the development of prototyping models through the analysis of the market needs.
And still, the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), a center that promotes excellence in basic and applied research, with which Bormioli Pharma is investigating traceability solutions, and Water.io, start-up collaborating in designing compliance and connectivity solutions applied to pharma packaging.
The prototypes showcased by the company can be visited – for the press and a selection of invited stakeholders in the industry – inside an innovative experiential installation at the Bormioli Pharma booth 111C10.
