The BSMA has been providing a forum for Cold Chain Management and Emerging Markets for the industry consisting of manufacturers, logistics providers, technology enablers, service providers and regulators for drugs and clinical supply for nearly ten years.
Devendra Mishra, Executive Director of BSMA, in announcing the collaboration with Envirotainer, observed, “The education of supply chain professionals in the end-to-end cold chain operations is one of the most formidable challenges facing biopharma. We critically need training in order to comply with the rigorous, quality and product safety requirement of Good Distribution Practices (GDP). I am deeply concerned about the last mile delivery and storage in many emerging markets as well as in the US due to cold chain infrastructure constraints and insufficient sound practices where real time transmission of temperature monitored data from transportation services is not widely prevalent."
“In collaboration with the Envirotainer, BSMA is committed to providing education for this critical aspect of the overall supply chain of biopharma.” He added, “It is time that we have a cold chain academy today for nearly 40 percent of all healthcare products are temperature sensitive. It is expected that eight of the top ten global biopharmaceutical products will require cold chain handling by 2020.”
Chris Fore, the Compliance Manager at Envirotainer added, “Envirotainer has been involved with the BSMA for eight years and we share their aspirations to promote good cold chain practices. Given that, along with the rapid growth of their organization and the expertise of their members, they are a perfect choice to develop the academyo into an ‘industry best’ service. While nearly 10,000 learners from 200 companies have already taken advantage of the Envirotainer academyo, our mutual goal is to satisfy all the various stakeholder’s educational needs- whether they require basic, advanced or expert level knowledge. By offering free courses over a variety of industry-related topics, we can appeal to everyone, whether they are a manufacturer, forwarder, carrier or ground handling agent. Access to the online courses will be available from both the BSMA and Envirotainer website.”
