Gerresheimer Speaks at the Pre-filled Syringes Forum in La Jolla

Dr. Arno Fries, Director Product Management Tubular Glass at Gerresheimer, will give an update about the material and quality of pre-filled syringes at the forum in La Jolla, CA, USA, which takes place on July 26, 2012.

"What is the best material for primary packing in the pharmaceutical industry is the question most talked about at present", says Arno Fries and points out that the increasingly complex and diverse requirements of the healthcare market - especially doctors' and patients' driven - result in a huge need for various syringe systems the pharmaceutical and healthcare vendors have to offer.

Arno Fries will cover the following topics in his presentation:

· Trends in the pre-filled syringe market
· Pre-filled syringes made of plastic and glass
· Glass as packaging material for syringes and vials
· Quality and endurance of glass containers

Pre-filled glass syringes representing the main part of the market are used mostly for low molecular heparin, vaccines and biotech products whereas pre-filled syringes made of plastic are increasingly used for contrast media, cytostatics and similar special drugs.

Gerresheimer group's product portfolio is both extensive and innovative when it comes to pharmaceutical primary packages. The company is one of the leading developer and manufacturer of glass and plastic vials and syringes.
