Advanced packaging facility opens

Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging has opened a new facility in New Milford, CT. Co-located in the same building with one of its strategic partners, MedInstill, the facility will be home to advanced packaging production including injection-molding, injection/blow- molding, printing, and assembly of a variety of polymer-based packaging products. Currently the plant is supplying printed tubes and desiccant stoppers for the effervescent market in the U.S.

Local and state government officials, members of the press, customers, as well as Süd-Chemie and MedInstill employees, celebrated a ribbon cutting, plant tour and lunch accompanied by a four-piece German Oktoberfest band. Customers included Bayer, Schering-Plough, GlaxoSmithKline, Solvay, and Purdue Pharma.

Dr. Stefan Laetsch, global business unit manager, said, “The Connecticut site allows us to work with MedInstill on its groundbreaking technologies, as well as to bring our full range of products and technical services even closer to our important U.S. customers.”
