The British war on science

Dwindling science skills could hurt the country's drug industry

Call it the war on science.

Reuters is reporting that if British spending on science is not protected, the country's position as a "science superpower" could be threatened, according to lawmakers on the House of Commons science and technology committee.

In the same article, they talk about a recent study from the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry that says more and more companies may reach outside of the country to find appropriately skilled workers in the math and science fields, because they cannot find them there.

A lack of these skills could threaten future investments in the pharmaceutical area.

According to the article, the pharmaceutical industrial sector in Britain employs more than 70,000 people, and plays an important part in the country's economy, as well as in global drug development.
