A recent NPR article discussed Amazon’s latest acquisition in the medical industry. The conglomerate will purchase primary care organization One Medical for almost $3.9 billion. The membership-based primary care practice that services roughly 767,000 patients has about 200 locations across America, and also offers virtual services. The move strengthens Amazon’s foothold in health care after its 2018 acquisition of PillPack for $753 million and launch of Amazon Pharmacy, its prescription and delivery service, in 2020.
