Multiple studies have proven that electrical stimulation can help heal wounds, even broken bones. However, in order to deliver these tiny shocks to a broken bone, externally powered electrodes have to be surgically implanted at the site of the wound. According to a recent MedicalXpress article, researchers have developed an implantable patch that delivers electro-stimulation to promote healing, and then dissolves into the body. This eliminates the need for surgical removal, which is invasive and comes with a host of potential complications.
