UNMH is Testing the Moderna Vaccine in Children

The trial will include 6,750 healthy children between 6 months and 12 years old.

To date, Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine has only been tested on adults, but according to a recent KOAT Action News article, that’s about to change. A team of scientists at the University of New Mexico Hospital are preparing to test the Moderna vaccine on children aged 6 months to 12 years. The open-label placebo-controlled study will test safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of two doses administered 4 weeks apart. The subjects will be monitored for 12 months, after the second shot.
