Olympus Will Acquire Another Medical Device Maker

The deal will grow Olympus’ respiratory device portfolio.

A recent Medical Device Network article noted the latest acquisition is the medical device space. Olympus has signed a deal to acquire Veran Medical Technologies for a cool $340 million. The move will act to strengthen Olympus’ therapeutic solutions division by increasing the company’s respiratory device portfolio. Although Olympus is based in Tokyo, the acquisition will take place via its United States subsidiary, Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA).

“The most significant part of this deal is that we will secure immediate access to VMT's unique electromagnetic navigation system with proprietary devices to build a stronger future respiratory product portfolio," said OCA CEO and chief operating officer of the global company, Nacho Abia.
