There have been two cases in which people infected with HIV have lowered the virus levels in their bodies to undetectable. Both instances have been with the help of bone marrow transplants. However, a recent Science News article says that one person may have beat HIV with no outside help. Analysis of 1.5 billion cells showed no functional HIV copies in the body. Though there were still nonfunctional copies detected.
