A recent Reuters article reported on issues regarding the drug testing kits used for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) launched an investigation into a potential issue with the drug-testing kits that could allow them to be opened manually. The kit in questions, known as the BEREG-Kit Geneva, was the answer to the Russian doping scandal that affected the 2014 Winter Olympics.

According to WADA’s statement, the bottles manufactured by Swiss manufacturer Berlinger can be opened after freezing, making them susceptible to tampering. With the Olympics starting on February 9th, WADA is scrambling to find enough of the earlier model kits used in 2016 in Rio to cover the testing program for Pyeongchang.
