On December 9th, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention sent out a press release stressing the importance of vaccinations this flu season. The news comes amid National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), an event created to encourage vaccinations through the holidays and beyond.
A CDC infographic reports that during last year’s flu season, an estimated 5 million illnesses, 2.5 million medical visits, and 71,000 hospitalizations were prevented. So while you’re out observing NIVW with your friends this week, make sure one of the celebratory shots you take is a vaccine.
