Enamio is a new approach to chewing gum that combines everyday convenience with what the company calls innovative oral care benefits. Unlike traditional gum, it is made with a natural, plastic, and rubber-free base, and is formulated with rod-shaped nano-hydroxyapatite: the same mineral teeth enamel is made of. The company says that Enamio’s 20nm particles are small enough to penetrate enamel cracks and rebuild tooth structure from within.
Enamio is packed in highly specialized, high-barrier packaging designed to protect both the quality of the gum and the stability of its functional ingredients.
“Chicle gum base and certain active ingredients are highly sensitive to oxygen, moisture, and light," says Borzoo Haghighat, CEO of Enamio gum. "Our pouch helps limit oxygen exposure, prevent moisture loss or intrusion, and protect the product from sunlight, all of which can affect freshness, texture, and ingredient integrity over time.”
A common issue with chicle-based gums is that they can become dry and crumbly while sitting in their packaging. This is typically caused by a combination of the gum base formulation and changes in moisture levels during storage. As the gum gradually loses moisture, its texture can become increasingly brittle, says the company. This was a top consideration when examining which type of packaging to house the specialized gum.
“We took a two-part approach: first, we formulated the gum base to maintain a more consistent texture; second, we optimized the packaging to reduce moisture loss and protect the product throughout its shelf life," explains Haghighat.
According to the company, a traditional blister or tin-style package would not provide the same level of protection against oxygen, moisture, and light exposure.
“While we recognize the importance of reducing packaging waste, protecting the integrity, effectiveness, and overall quality of the gum and its functional ingredients is currently our highest priority.”
To convey the oral care benefits of the chewing gum, Haghighat says that the pouch reflects a balance of science, protection, quality, and trust. While many gum brands use a similar square box format, Enamio went a different route with the barrier, stand-up pouch. “The clean design and clinical visual language reinforce Enamio’s science focused positioning, while the specialized barrier packaging helps protect the gum and its active ingredients from oxygen, moisture, and light. Features such as the holographic authentication sticker, unique serial number, tamper evidence, and QR code further communicate transparency, security, and customer safety.”

Security and transparency are part of the core values for Enamio. As such, each pouch includes a holographic security sticker with a unique serial number. The sticker combines several authentication and anti-counterfeiting features, including a difficult-to-replicate holographic element, a unique serial number that can be verified on the company website, tamper-evident construction that prevents the sticker from being removed and reused, and a scannable QR code.
Haghighat say that counterfeiting is a serious problem within the supplement and oral-care industries, particularly on third-party marketplaces. “Unauthorized products may be manufactured without proper quality controls and may contain low-quality, unverified, or potentially unsafe ingredients.”
