“There is a paradigm shift in the pharmaceutical and diagnostic markets that’s been driving change over recent years from traditional single-use technologies to generally higher-performance, multi-use, thermal packaging solutions.”

The above insight from Paul Terry, Peli BioThermal’s Director of Sales EMEA, came from a case study presentation at the Cool Chain Assn. 6th Pharma & Biosciences Conference at the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel. Terry highlighted “the growth within the market for environmentally responsible multi-use thermal packaging,” during his Sept. 24 address, “Temperature Controlled Parcel Shippers for Rental and Reuse Applications.”

Identifying Brussels as “a key hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and transfer,” Peli BioThermal reports that it recently opened a service center in Belgium for its Crēdo™ on Demand rental program that enables the company’s global clients to receive and return the reusable Crēdo™ line of temperature-controlled packaging. The company expects its footprint of network stations and drop points to exceed 100 sites by early 2019.

The Cool Chain Assn. event wraps up Sept. 25, with the following presentations:

• The Vienna Airport’s new pharmaceutical handling facility for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments

• A panel discussion on dedicated pharmaceutical cool chain infrastructure

• A former Teva director discussing practical aspects of cool chain and GDP certification

• A case study on lane risk assessment by Eelco de Jong, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Validaide

The Netherlands-based Cool Chain Assn., or CCA, is a non-profit organization that aims to reduce waste and improve the “quality, efficiency and value of the temperature-sensitive supply chain.” CCA notes its “ambition is to create impact: visible and measurable results for both companies and our society."
