Petainer partners with ProStar in U.S. and lauches keg pressure release valve

petainerKeg is a one-way 20- or 30-liter keg made out of highly engineered advanced polymers for beer, wine, and other beverage segments.

Petainer, the global leader in high performance and sustainable packaging, has expanded its distribution footprint in North America with a new partnership with ProStarDistributing. ProStar will exclusively sell petainerKeg products, targeting breweries, wineries, cider producers, and cold brew coffee suppliers with high-quality packaging and supply chain solutions, leveraging Petainer’s expanding customer base and developing new markets.

The market-leading petainerKeg is an increasingly popular alternative to traditional metal kegs, which offers significant total cost of ownership and logistic benefits. Sales of petainerKegs in the US have benefitted from the growing demand in the craft beer market for a cost-effective alternative to owning or leasing a fleet of steel kegs.

Annemieke Hartman-Jemmett, Petainer’s Group Commercial Strategy Director, says: “Petainer’s new partnership with ProStar is an exciting development because it completes our distribution footprint in North America, a market which presents a strategic growth opportunity for the business.”

Marc Kibbey, Executive Vice President, North America, Petainer, explains: "The petainerKeg is changing the way breweries and wineries are thinking about their business, thanks to competitive manufacturing and logistics costs, product quality, and the fact that they can use the same dispensing systems required for conventional steel kegs. We are also looking forward to exploring new opportunities in the fast-growing cold brew coffee, cider, and honey wine market segments.”

Sarah Provancher, Managing Director, ProStar Distributing, comments: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Petainer. We have identified many opportunities for petainerKeg in the Eastern U.S. and have recruited a strong sales team to help quickly grow the petainerKeg market share.”

The environmental benefits of the lightweight, fully recyclable petainerKeg system includeslow carbon emissions and reduced freight costs. Additional advantages of the petainerKeg include a brand new, unused keg for every filling, the opportunity to economically enter new out-of-area or export markets and savings because there is no need to own or manage a fleet of metal kegs. They are also safe and easy to handle due to their light weight.

Petainer has also announced the introduction to the U.S. market of a new non-pressure release (NPR) fitting, replicating standard keg fittings. Bars will benefit from this easier to use solution which ensures kegs can be tapped repeatedly, while allowing for significantly easier cleaning of lines.
