Medical Flow Wrapper Builds Seal Validation Into Every Cycle

Sealing pressures are set and monitored from the HMI, while in-line checks catch product in the seal zone and folded film at the cross seal, giving medical device manufacturers built-in validation checkpoints and secured rejects.

I'm Hugh Crouch. I'm the Flowpack Product Manager for Harpak-Ulma here in the United States. Today we're unveiling at Pack Expo 2026 our new medical flow wrapper, which is focusing around validation points during your packaging process. So today our process will be is, we're bringing these sanitizing sachets in.

We're measuring them. We're applying them to the film. We have a centering device here that's centering the film as we're running to make sure that the the seals are staying close to each other. We're then welding and longitudinally sealing above the product, and all of that is adjustable by the HMI for pressures.

We're then validating nothing is in the seal area, in this area where you see the small arm running. And then in the cross seal, we're validating that our film is not folded over, and that our pressures are consistently done at each and every cycle. We then have a rejection point for any good or bad products as we're... So when you're validating that, these are lockable for the operator to get into.

So right now we're gonna do a quick run of the machine. And that'll start out here So again, your products are being fed on top of the film. The film's carrying them through the machine. We're making sure our product is staying consistently with the even film. We're then longitudinally welding. We're checking in between each cycle to make sure that we're positioned correctly. We're then sealing with validation on the pressures, and then we would do a reject if we had bad or good products.
