Creating Jobs and Protecting Consumers with Pharmaceutical Serialization; U.S. Congressman Joseph R. Pitts Visits Omega Design Corporation

Omega Design Corporation - a global provider of innovative packaging machinery and serialization solutions, and the worldwide leader in bottle unscrambling technology - recently hosted U.S.

Congressman Joseph R. Pitts (R - PA) at its headquarters in Exton, PA. During his visit, Rep. Pitts was provided with a tour and overview of the company's unit-level serialization capabilities.

Unit-level serialization has gained attention recently as a potential tool to help fight pharmaceutical counterfeiting and provide product visibility in the supply chain. Omega Design offers a full family of track and trace enabling solutions for any pharmaceutical packaging line, from manual to automatic.

"It was encouraging to visit a Pennsylvania manufacturer that is creating jobs through innovative technologies that can help protect American consumers," said Rep. Pitts.

Omega's systems can print code on each level of packaging and associate contents to begin a process of tracking and tracing pharmaceutical products as they move through the supply chain.
Rep. Pitts serves Pennsylvania's 16th District, which includes Lancaster, most of Reading and several southwestern suburbs of Philadelphia. He is the chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.

"Omega provided an overview of the possibilities surrounding the tracking and tracing of pharmaceutical products using unique serial numbers," said Rep. Pitts. "The timing of our visit was ideal given our current focus on the FDA Reform bill."
