It seems like every day there’s a new “smart” version of an age-old product that uses technology to improve function. According to a recent Medgadget article, we can now add socks to the list. A team of researchers at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has been testing PUP (Patient is Up) Smart Socks to determine their ability to prevent at-risk patients from falling. The smart socks were developed by Palarum, and contain pressure sensors that send notifications to caregivers when their patients attempt to stand up. A video with more information can be seen here.
