According to a recent FierceBiotech article, that may soon be an option thanks to an innovative new vibrating pill. The disposable pill, known as the Vibrant Gastro, is about the size of a standard multivitamin, and is ingested the same way: with a glass of water.
Once inside the body, it not only shakes up possible blockages in the, it also resets the relationship between the gut and the brain’s circadian rhythm. As it passes through the digestive system, the vibrations stimulate involuntary contractions in the colon, which recalibrates them with the body’s biological clock. The process takes one to eight weeks, and progress can be tracked via a companion smartphone app. The pill just completed a phase 3 study, and will be considered for FDA approval.
