A recent Medgadget article discussed the latest development in personal oxygen monitoring: a smart thumb ring. The device was developed by China-based medical device company Wellue, and it’s called the O2Ring. Composed of flexible medical grade silicone, the pulse oximeter contains a small LED screen that provides continuous peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) readings. The smart ring powers on automatically when slid on a finger, and powers off seconds after removal. Simply tap the screen, and it will illuminate to show your SpO2 and heart rate in real time. It costs $165, and can be purchased on Wellue’s website or Amazon.
This Ring Monitors Blood Oxygen Levels
The lightweight silicone ring weighs just fifteen grams and continuously monitors the wearer’s peripheral oxygen saturation.
