A recent article from The Guardian discussed the pandemic situation in Austria, and the government’s role in curbing the spread of COVID-19. Last Friday, the Austrian chancellor, Alexander Schallenberg, announced a new lockdown expected to last 10 to 20 days. Taking it a step further, Schallenberg declared that Austria will be the first country in Europe to employ compulsory vaccination on February 1, 2022. If people choose not to adhere to the new guidance, they could be fined as much as £3,000.
