A recent BBC article discussed the long-awaited arrival of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the Antarctic. Nine months after the vaccine was released, it was flown in and administered to the 23 staff members conducting research at the British Rothera. Rothera has been in lockdown since March, when only a skeleton crew remained at the base to wait out the polar winter.
