It’s commonly known that the cold chain is imperative to the successful distribution of COVID vaccines. However, according to a recent CBS News article a hospital worker in Grafton, Wisconsin intentionally exploited this weakness and removed 57 vials from a pharmacy refrigerator. The incident was initially assumed to be accidental, but when questioned, the unnamed male employee admitted to doing it on purpose.
More than 500 doses had to be thrown out, worth between $8,000 and $11,000. The employee was fired and arrested on three felony charges including First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Adulterating a Prescription Drug and Criminal Damage to Property, all of which are felonies.
