A recent UPI article discussed yet another application for medical marijuana. This time, it’s helping kids with autism overcome behavioral and social obstacles. A doctor of pediatric neurology at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center conducted a study that treated 150 autistic children with cannabis over a period of sixteen weeks. Children who took a cannabis extract improved 49% and 53% on two scales used to measure symptoms of autism and disruptive behavior, compared with 21% and 44$ for children in the placebo group. The team behind the study is planning a second clinical trial that will include more children from different countries.
