Prent Expands Global Thermoforming Capabilities to Tijuana, Mexico

Company commemorates its 50th anniversary with a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that will become operational later this year.

Prent Corporation, producer of custom medical and electronics thermoform packaging, is constructing a 45,000 sq-ft advanced manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico.

The facility, which will become operational in the fourth quarter of 2018, will meet the growing demand for medical packaging regionally while strengthening a global footprint that supports the medical, electronics and consumer industries from the Americas to the Caribbean, Europe to Southeast Asia and beyond.

The new Tijuana facility will be a world-class, ISO 9001-certified manufacturing plant featuring a certified Class 7 clean room environment. As part of Prent’s vertical integration strategy, the Tijuana facility will access Prent’s Global Package Design Teams, Worldwide Machine Build and Custom Tool Build facilities. This ensures the same consistent, high-quality performance in Tijuana as across the globe while enabling Prent to lower customers’ risks, simplify tool transfers and meet the medical industry’s standards of excellence.

“We are proud to say that we are continuing to expand our global footprint after 50 successful years, by establishing a presence in Mexico—a major North American medical manufacturing hub,” says Joe Pregont, Prent Corp. President and CEO. “It continues to advance our corporate strategy to locate our manufacturing facilities in close proximity to our customers—reducing both lead-time and transportation costs. At the same time, it demonstrates our commitment to be the preferred source of custom thermoform plastic medical packaging solutions in the world.”

Prent designs and manufactures custom trays, totes, clamshells and automation totes for medical OEMs in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. “The addition of our eleventh manufacturing facility is a key strategic initiative for the company. As we look to the next 50 years, our goal is to continue to innovate, to grow and to evolve to meet the new and emerging needs of the customers we have the privilege of serving today and into the future,” Pregont says.
