Global pharmaceutical outsourcing services provider PCI Pharma Services (PCI) is excited to announce the appointment of Melissa Ertl as Executive Director of Quality for its Philadelphia location. The site serves as PCI’s corporate headquarters as well as a Center of Excellence for contract packaging services for commercial medicines, medical devices, animal health medicines and consumer healthcare products.

Melissa joins PCI with extensive industry experience. Prior to joining PCI, Melissa developed a broad career that includes employments with GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, and Wyeth (Pfizer) and features an extensive background and wealth of knowledge in quality and compliance. She brings experience including investigation writing, regulatory inspections, risk and data integrity assessment, training development, procedure development, change management systems, remediating CAPAs, and working with batch documentation.

“We are delighted to have Melissa join PCI,” stated Jeannie Metzinger, PCI Vice President of Quality. “Melissa brings extensive knowledge and experience across a number of leading pharmaceutical companies which will be an asset to our organization. Her commitment to quality and continuous improvement aligns with the company’s vision to provide the industry’s leading customer experience for our clients and supporting lifesaving medicines to patients around the world.”

PCI’s Philadelphia facility recently expanded its Serialization and Anti-Counterfeiting capacity in support of domestic and international requirements, as well as investment in additional commercial packaging lines for capacity expansion. Other notable capital investments include the on-site capacity expansion of the site’s 2-8°C Cold Chain storage, complementing expansive Cold Chain capabilities across PCI’s commercial and clinical supply network. In October, 2017 PCI announced the acquisition of contract packaging services provider Millmount Healthcare based in Ireland, a member of the European Union.

In addition to her extensive experience, Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology-Behavioral Science from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and a MBA in Biotechnology and Healthcare Management from Penn State University. She has also earned her Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt.
