Ron Puvak has been appointed managing director of the Contract Packaging Association (CPA), the national, nonprofit trade organization for those who manufacture, package, warehouse and ship products for a variety of consumer packaged goods companies and their suppliers.

Effective immediately, Puvak will be responsible for overseeing the association’s current activities and creating a plan for long-term growth. Puvak has a 40-plus year track record in management, development of packaging technology and promotion of new innovation and business development. He will report to the CPA’s board of directors, chaired by Tim Koers, chief operating officer of The Visual Pak Companies.

“Ron’s multidiscipline experience in the packaging sector and previous association experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead CPA’s initiatives,” said Koers. “Having spearheaded projects for brand owners, machinery manufacturers and material suppliers his entire career, he will help take CPA to the next level by continuing to mold it around the needs of its members, associates and the greater packaging community.”

For the past eleven years, Puvak has been with Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI) as the director of marketing and new business development. His primary responsibility there was helping brand owners achieve their packaging objectives. Before joining PTI, he was responsible for new business development at AGR International, a global supplier of quality systems.

Concurrently, Puvak has also been the managing director of The Packaging Conference. The annual event brings the latest packaging achievements to a diverse audience of brand owners, suppliers and associations.

Additionally, Puvak has had leadership roles in a number of societies and associations including the Society of Plastics Engineers Blow Molding division and the International Society of Beverage Technologists. In 2015, he was granted lifetime Certified Packaging Professional status by the Institute of Packaging Professionals.
