Optel Medevon, newest business unit of Optel Group and provider of automated inspection solutions for the medical device industry, announced that it is officially launching operations. Optel Group has appointed Alain Chandonnet, PhD. as the President of this business unit, to spearhead the initiative aiming at developing this new area of the company’s activities.

Optel Medevon provides medical device manufacturers and medical device packaging suppliers with automated inspection solutions to help them comply with Unique Device Identification (UDI) regulations that are emerging and being implemented throughout the world. These solutions are customizable, cost-effective and future-proof, making them easily adaptable to meet the regulatory requirements of medical device identification efficiently. The new business unit significantly leverages the recognized expertise and 25+ years’ experience of sister business unit, Optel Vision.

In addition, as a pure-play partner, dedicated exclusively to the medical device segment, the business unit will provide its customers with a unique focus on their specific reality and challenges. "We are committed to addressing a gap in this particular area, and our pre-existing core expertise transfers really well to medical device inspection," explained Alain Chandonnet, President of Optel Medevon. "And because we already have a finely tuned process in place for successful project management, custom design and integration of complex systems, we have quite a unique ability to tailor our current solutions for our customers. Integrating these solutions in a timely and efficient manner is key in order to meet the regulatory deadlines," added Mr. Chandonnet. "This move is a natural and important step in our development. Our technologies have reached a level of maturity that allows us to diversify into other segments, and the medical device industry was a logical choice for us," said Louis Roy, President of parent company Optel Group. "The human aspect of this segment is also an ideal fit for our organization and overall corporate mission, which is to use our technologies to improve the human condition and
ultimately help create a better world," added Mr. Roy.

"Mr. Chandonnet is an excellent choice for this mandate. Not only is he a brilliant technology entrepreneur, he is also a very gifted scientist, with extensive knowledge in the fields of medical devices and optics," continued Mr. Roy. Optel Medevon will be exhibiting some of its innovative solutions at Pack Expo, being held at McCormick Place in Chicago, from November 6 to 9, 2016 at Booth S-2978.
