The series will identify the purpose of sterile packages and packaging systems, packaging requirements sources, and shipping tests. The facilitators will help attendees define the requirements of packaging standards and the types of packaging. Interactive discussions will focus on design considerations and customers as well as packaging tests. Using accelerated and real-time stability studies and explaining packaging system qualification/validation will also be covered.
The series will be led by Curt Larsen and John Spitzley, Fellows at Spartan Design Group. Curt is active at all levels in the global medical packaging standards initiatives at ASTM International, AAMI, and ISO. He has been an instructor for the AAMI Industrial Sterilization for Medical Devices course since 2010. John worked for Medtronic Inc. for 31 years as a packaging manufacturing and design engineer. He was the past chairman of the AdvaMed (Health Industry Manufacturers Association) Sterilization/Packaging Committee and was chair for AAMI TIR22 and co-chair of Working Group 7 for ISO 11607 with Curt Larsen.
