MOCON announces new vp of engineering and manufacturing

MOCON, a leading global provider of permeation instrumentation and package integrity testing, announced that Michael Barto has joined the company as vice president of engineering and manufacturing.

Barto brings 20 years of significant experience in new product development, engineering, manufacturing, operations and testing with well-known controls and fluid power companies.

“This newly-created position has been established to further elevate MOCON’s operational excellence, as well as reduce risk and improve compliance throughout our global manufacturing and sales footprint. Mike’s successful track record in these areas makes him the ideal person to establish new initiatives. Our objective is to provide the global marketplace with even higher levels of innovation, performance, reliability, customer service and parts,” said Don DeMorett, chief operating officer.

Most recently, Barto held director of sensor and magnetic flow meter technology positions at Emerson Electric, Rosemount. There he led global sensor, transmitter and software new product development activities. Previously, he was with JEM Technical in operations and manufacturing, as well as, chief engineer for new product development at the Tennant Company.

Barto has earned a Six Sigma Blackbelt, Certified Engineer in Training and is a Certified Fluid Power Specialist. He also has been awarded several patents.
