About Andrew Berlin
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chicago-based Berlin Packaging, Andrew Berlin oversees North America’s only Hybrid Packaging Supplier of plastic, glass, and metal containers and closures. Under Mr. Berlin’s leadership since 1988, the company has experienced strong growth, and Berlin Packaging is now a $1.4 billion enterprise and growing multiple times faster than the industry.

Mr. Berlin spearheaded this growth by focusing on thrilling three constituents: customers, suppliers, and employees. “My goal is to grow the bottom lines of my customers, and packaging is the currency we use,” notes Mr. Berlin. “I know that if we succeed with my customers, my suppliers and my employees also stand to win.”

Berlin Packaging supplies billions of containers and closures annually as well as provides warehousing and logistics services for customers of all sizes in all industries. The company also offers a series of service divisions, including Studio One Eleven design and Berlin Quality consulting, and specialty-product divisions to be a true one-stop shop for rigid packaging. The company was ISO certified in 2004 and has a long track-record of 99+% on-time delivery, quantified profits for customers, and strong customer thrill scores.

Mr. Berlin has brought innovative concepts and products to the packaging community along with a competitive spirit. “My competitors make me stronger. I appreciate the intensity of the packaging market, and I strive to compete robustly. I love to surround myself with a team that feels the same way,” adds Mr. Berlin. His passion for winning through a unique corporate culture earned Berlin Packaging a case study in The Human Equation by Jeffrey Pfeffer. The case study demonstrates the company’s successful use of “mutuality of obligation” principles between employer and employee to build a competitive advantage.

Mr. Berlin is involved with several philanthropic causes, business associations, and civic activities. He is a Partner of the Chicago Cubs and the Chairman and Owner of the South Bend Cubs. Mr. Berlin has a Juris Doctor of Law degree from Loyola University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. from Syracuse University.
