Labelmaster, a leading provider of solutions for hazardous material transport compliance, has released its 2015 A.I.R. ShipperTM publication that provides the most up-to-date information on international air regulations for shipments of dangerous goods, including specific requirements for labeling, marking, packaging and shipping papers.

Written from the shipper’s perspective, the A.I.R. Shipper features extensive content, helpful cross-references and easy navigation, and offers quick, convenient access to critical information. The new edition covers all updates released by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other national authorities that will be in effect Jan. 1, 2015, thereby offering in one resource all of the information needed to ship air freight safely.

The A.I.R. Shipper is aligned with the UN recommendations for the international transport of dangerous goods and features the same chapter order as ICAO’s Technical Instructions, IMDG Code, ADR and other UN publications to further facilitate the shipping process of dangerous goods by air.

“Shipping dangerous goods by air comes with its own set of regulations, and shippers and carriers must clearly understand the latest specific requirements,” said Neil McCulloch, senior manager, international product development at Labelmaster. “To illustrate this need, in 2012, the Federal Aviation Administration issued $4.1 million in fines for improper dangerous goods shipments.

“The A.I.R Shipper also addresses proper labeling, proper packaging and required paper work,” McCulloch said. “It serves as a useful tool to train employees and offers guidance in areas such as additional requirements from carriers and freight forwarders and issues including letters of interpretation, exemptions and supplements. The A.I.R Shipper provides all of the data you need in one publication.”

In addition to providing information on the latest regulations at one’s fingertips, Labelmaster offers these steps for safe and secure transport of dangerous goods by air:

  • Train employees properly using publications and training software

  • Label and mark packages with the appropriate markings for each material

  • Select the proper packaging to ensure both safety and compliance

  • Complete shipping papers accurately to reduce confusion and streamline transportation

  • Know if your carrier and freight forwarder impose any additional requirements

  • Look for additional resources such as letters of interpretation, exemptions and supplements

  • Use a trusted supplier of high quality regulatory products, software and services
