Life Pack Labs is a joint venture between MOCON, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of permeation instrumentation, and Life Packaging Technology LLC, Costa Mesa, Calif., a leader in package engineering services for life science products.

The company will be staffed by long-time packaging and life science industry professionals with multidisciplinary expertise to help manufacturers test, as well as design, develop, validate and troubleshoot life science packaging. Life Pack Labs will be headquartered in Vista, Calif. and is expected to open Q2 2015 with ISO 17025 certification.

The objective is to provide pharmaceutical and medical device companies with several competitive advantages. Because the joint venture partners have a broader technology base than most manufacturers and laboratory competitors, their access to the latest testing methodologies, expert consulting services and unbiased design and development is expected to have a dramatic impact on packaging innovation. Also, by outsourcing their packaging requirements to one company, manufacturers will be able to reduce both cost and development time.

Life Pack Labs will combine MOCON’s signature brand of packaging permeation, headspace analysis, package integrity equipment and testing services with Life Packaging Technology’s expertise in design, testing and validation of packaging systems for sterile and non-sterile medical devices, biotechnology and pharmaceutical products.
