Mettler Toledo presents a Shared Insight! Workshop on USP compliance

Mettler Toledo is pleased to present a Shared Insight! Workshop focused on ensuring U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) compliance for quality management of weighing instruments.

This content was written and submitted by the supplier. It has only been modified to comply with this publication’s space and style.

This hands-on workshop will be offered for East coast professionals on June 10th, in Philadelphia, PA, and for West coast professionals on June 12th near San Francisco, CA.

Significant revisions to the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) General Chapters <41> (Balances) and <1251> (Weighing on an Analytical Balance) defining minimum quality standards for weighing became effective December, 2013. Since then, widespread uncertainties prevail in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO and related industries on how to efficiently implement these changes into practice. Professionals that have responsibility for one or more aspects of their organization’s weighing processes can’t afford to miss this hands-on workshop from the weighing experts at METTLER TOLEDO. These processes include:

  • Calibration, routine testing, metrology or maintenance

  • Selection, commissioning, and control of weighing instruments in laboratory and/or production

  • SOP development and quality control

  • GMP, GLP, USP and ISO compliance

This Shared Insight! Workshop is designed to further develop the attendee’s knowledge and skills needed to successfully navigate the recent USP changes and actualize their standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in the most efficient way.

Workshop Focus
Led by the principal experts from METTLER TOLEDO’s Good Weighing Practice (GWP) competence center, those attending will gain new and deeper insights and competencies as follows:

  • Interpret the impact of the USP weighing guidelines and other industry norms - such as GMP, as they relate to your organization’s weighing systems.

  • Implement a scientifically robust weighing quality management system to avoid out of specifications (OOS) and to ensure safe audits.

  • Gain a thorough understanding of relevant balance specifications and how to practically assess and test your individual weighing instruments in-situ.

  • Develop or revise your SOP’s for balances and scales incorporating the new regulatory requirements and reflecting current best practice.

Participants will go further in-depth to gain insight and apply best practices specifically in the three critical areas needed to completely ensure weighing compliance for their department or entire organization:

  • How to test your weighing instruments.

  • How often to test your weighing instruments.

  • How to avoid out-of-specification (OOS), costly investigations, and re-work.

Through a mixture of engaging lecture, industry examples, and workshop exercises – including a Q&A session specific to areas of interest, this intensive one-day workshop will prove invaluable in helping participants to navigate the USP guidelines and establish robust procedures for managing their weighing system in compliance with USP and GMP – both now and on a continued basis.

Registration and Information
This Shared Insight! Workshop will be presented on Tuesday, June 10th in Philadelphia, PA and Thursday, June 12th in San Mateo, CA. The registration fee is $595 per person; more information can be viewed on our registration page: http://us.mt.com/us/en/home/events/seminars/Insight_USP_GMP_ Compliance.html.
